Discover the Essence of Nature
Your rural retreat in the heart of the Cazorla, Segura, and Las Villas Natural Park.
Corrales de la Aldea offers a unique rural accommodation immersed in the Cazorla, Segura, and Las Villas Natural Park.
As the largest natural park on the peninsula with over 200,000 hectares, its terrain and flora are the most rugged and complex in this mountain range.
THE AUTHENTICITY OF THE SIERRA DE SEGURA
Immerse yourself in an oasis of peace in harmony with nature, where every detail connects you with the essence of mountain life.
After passing through Hornos de Segura and its medieval fortress, the Tranco Reservoir, an ancient valley with various settlements, welcomes you on this mountainous journey where you might catch sight of some deer and mountain goats along the path edges.
The “La Ballestera” detour is situated at an altitude of approximately 1,300 meters. A narrow and welcoming path through holm oaks and pines leads to the village and its centuries-old crops.
The accommodation is located at the village’s exit, on a topographical slope towards Arroyo Montero. It’s a discreet construction, characteristic of the chiqueras architecture of the Sierra de Segura, rising no more than three meters from the road.
The opposite facade, framing the village landscape and amplifying its sounds, opens entirely to the outside through a sliding enclosure that fully connects interior and exterior spaces. This perspective is only visible from certain points nearby, providing privacy and shelter.
A rural trail, an old path connecting La Ballestera to its neighboring village of Montalvo, serves as the access route to the refuge. The topography prevents vehicular access; the path can only be traversed on foot.

EXPERIENCE THE MAGIC OF EVERY CORNER
Where the landscape becomes your home.
The interior of the accommodation is a reflection of the surrounding landscape, featuring an cantilevered terrace and a large wooden structural porch that provides a complete view of the surroundings.
Inside the refuge, elements like the fireplace, the bathing area, the warmth of the old round log roof, the original stone from the more than 300-year-old pigsty according to local testimonies, and the sensation of being in a warm exterior setting are the aspects that will draw you back to this scenic accommodation.

A unique refuge, created with respect for the environment and the history of the region.
The construction process of this space was carried out with consideration for the existing “chiquera” (pigpen). Given the limitations on expanding the building in a protected area within the Natural Park, the idea was proposed to create a refuge space open to the public. While maintaining the simplicity and scale of the traditional “corralera” typology, the design offers a space for meditation and connection with the landscape.
The structure, featuring a large wooden portico and a perimeter structural crown, frames the view towards Arroyo Montero.
The straightforward construction of the floor and facades using polished and troweled concrete for the floor and natural lime plaster for the facades enhances the prominence of the landscape both outside and inside the environment.
